  5. Choose a fundraiser that your customers will buy.
     
  6. Get organized early: material, resources, promotional ideas, etc.
     
  7. Learn how to maximize your sale. Talk with your supplier.
    • Ask lots of questions to determine the most successful ways to sell the product
    • Hold a kick-off meeting and train your staff
       
  8. Tell the world about your event
    • Issue a press release
    • Get local businesses involved
       
  9. Analyze your competition - the sales pie is only so large.
     
  10. Communicate clearly and often with all members and suppliers, especially before and during the event
     
  11. Keep good records
    • keep a copy of all orders
    • keep a copy of all members, suppliers, other important volunteers
    • make cash management a top priority. Keep it simple. Ask that all sales be made by check and all checks be made out to your group.
       
  12. Avoid distribution problems before they occur
    • choose a supplier who pre-sorts all orders
    • report all damaged/missing products immediately
    • choose a supplier who communicates concerning the time when orders are being processed, when they get shipped, and how they are being shipped.
       
  13. Offer an incentive to each member to get all orders in ASAP, before the deadline.
     
  14. Solicit feedback from members and customers to make your next fundraiser an even bigger success.
     
  15. Pace yourself. As the leader, you can only do so much. Try to stay focused and share the work load with other key members. Good luck and have fun. It's a real learning experience!
